Hi,

I'm currently designing a dimensional model for an Insurance Claims process and have a question on designing my fact table.

Our Claims Transaction source data is stored in a flat table with 3 "levels" for each claim.

Every Claim has an Occurrence Number. This is the main ID for a Claim.

Each Occurrence can have 1 or many Feature Numbers. Features are "buckets" that allow the company to group payments. for example, one feature can have payments for the main dwelling. Another feature can have payments for the contents of the home, etc...

Each Feature can have many transactions, such as the transaction date and time of the payment and the amount.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a fact table that somehow incorporates each of the Numbers discussed above so that I can report the claims at different levels and drill up all the way to the occurrence or down to the transaction.

Thanks,
Scott
